Inviting Little Ones to Your Wedding/Event

Inviting little ones to your wedding or event could be a tricky topic to discuss. As you begin to create your guest list, you will begin to run into many questions. One of the most important ones will be “Should I Invite Kids to the Wedding”. If you decide yes, then you have to decide which guests are invited to bring their little ones!

Below is a list of the pros and cons of inviting children to your wedding.

Pros

Guests do not have to worry about a babysitter.

For some guests, the decision to attend your wedding or event versus getting a babysitter could be a challenge. This could lead some guests to not attend your big day. Guests can be with their children and not have to worry about a sitter for the night or weekend.

Children are fun!

Whether the little ones are tearing up the dance floor or telling their favorite joke to the guests, you are guaranteed to get some laughs and great memories from the kids that attend the wedding or event. Kids add fun, laughter, and a certain atmosphere to your special day.

The Wedding Party

Having a flower girl and ring bear can be adorable down the aisle and kids are an essential part of this element. Children at wedding parties make for great photos and great memories!

Cons

Expense

Adding a kids menu and accounting for the extra guests can be expensive and you may have to cut back on other things in order to accommodate kids.

Venue

Most venues have a guest capacity, so you may need to choose a venue based on size to accommodate all of their guests and children. This could be challenging if you fall in love with a smaller venue that cannot accommodate all of your guests! Our advice is to look at venues after a guest list has been made to avoid this problem.

Unpredictability

As much as children can be fun, they can also be unpredictable! Kids love to run around and a kid running across the dance floor during the first dance is not the best-case scenario.

Whether you decide to invite kids or not, always make sure to be clear and concise on the invites. If you do not want to invite children, try one of these lines on your invitations.  “Unfortunately we are only able to accommodate the children in the wedding party at our reception” “Please join us for this adults-only affair, we look forward to seeing your little ones on a different occasion”. “Enjoy a night off at this adult-only wedding”.
