Need to plan your kid’s birthday party, but don’t know where to start? We have everything you need to know from the theme to the guest list, activities, and sweets! Even the simplest party requires a whole lot of planning, so keep reading to find out what you need to do to have a successful party.
The birthday boy or girl will know exactly what she wants, so involve your little one in all of the planning. Below are a few tips on how to organize and plan an awesome birthday party.
First things first, pick a theme. Knowing what theme your child wants allows you to form the most comprehensive vision of what is necessary to make a successful party. Sit with your child to get some inspiration and talk about their favorite movies, characters, and TV shows. If you want a simple theme, just got with your kiddo’s favorite colors! The theme or color palette will help you choose the venue, food choices, and what decorations you will need to get.
The location of the party depends on personal preference and budget. Hosting a birthday party at home is the simplest solution for parents who have a budget and want to know where everything is. There are so many different ways to turn your backyard into a fantasy land or a jungle with wild animals. If you don’t have space in your backyard, consider your local venues.
After you’ve chosen a venue, you’ll need to know how many kids will be attending your Kid’s birthday party. You don’t necessarily need to invite the entire class to your child’s party. It’s likely that your son or daughter has close friends that they’ll want to spend time with.
Once you’ve locked down a venue and make your guest list, you’re ready to send out invitations. There are so many different sites that you can go on and design your child’s invitation from scratch. For example Canva or Minted. If you want to go with a cheaper option and save some paper, just send out an e-invitation from Paperless Post. Don’t forget to include the date, time, address, dress code, RSVP contact information.
Your guests will always look forward to the food, but cmon, who wouldn’t! Make sure you plan to serve something extra special that will relate to the theme of the party. Light bites and appetizers are always a must because your guests will come hungry. Get creative by having a taco bar or a hot dog stand! The kids need fancy drinks too, so don’t forget about the mocktails!
Every party needs to end with a party favor. Giving the party favors some customization will make your child’s guests feel special. Add the child’s name on each bag and stuff it with fun goodies that relate to the theme of the party. If you want, you can even give a single favor, such as a color by number book or a cute t-shirt.
To make the party more interactive and fun, get a photo-booth, have a painting class, or even a Make-your-own flower crown station. These birthday party activities are perfect for kids of all ages!
It’s not a kid’s birthday party without sweets! Kid’s these days rather have a dessert table than just a birthday cake. To make the day extra special, set up a dessert table with some custom cookies, cake pops, cupcakes, macaroons, and donuts. To make the dessert station prettier, use some colorful jars and platters. Etsy has some really cute trays to spice up your display.
